20th Homecoming Memories: 8/29/03 Reunion Committee Letter:
To: USMMA Class of 1983
From: Class of 1983 Reunion Committee
Re: Twentieth Year Reunion; October 3-5, 2003 Reunion Weekend
Dear Classmates:
We were happy to receive a strong initial response to our March 10, 2003 letter concerning the 20th year reunion. Many people have committed to attend the 20th year reunion, and all indications are that we will exceed the exceptional turnout we had at our 15th year reunion.
Now that October 4 is a mere few weeks away, this will be the last mailing concerning the reunion. The updated list of reunion attendees is enclosed, and we are delighted with such a large turnout. There is, however, room for more. If you are still straddling the fence as to whether to come, or if you have just not had the opportunity to let us know that you are coming, please contact me immediately. The following are some final details:
Payment
The cost of class reunion activities (including Saturday tailgate party, class mementos and Saturday night dinner ) is $85 per person. Please send the full payment immediately. We are required to pay all class vendors in advance, and appreciate your prompt payment so we can do so. In order to help us keep track of payments, please submit the questionnaire at the end of this letter with your payments. Checks should be made payable to the “USMMA 1983 Reunion Committee.”
Hotel
Our reunion hotel is the Andrews Hotel (formerly the Bayberry) in Great Neck. The phone number to reserve a room is (516) 482-2900. Rooms have been going fast, so please call soon if you are interested.
Schedule
I enclose for your convenience an updated calendar for Academy-wide events. Also enclosed is information on a sailing day Eric Wallischeck and Dan Rohde are organizing for Friday, October 3, 2003 during the day. All those without plans on Friday night are invited to meet for an informal gathering at a bar near our class hotel (8pm? 9pm? before closing time?) . The bar is called “The Living Room” (formerly, “Mushrooms”). Our first “official” class function will be a tailgate party on Saturday at the McNulty campus (i.e., the museum area). Things will start around 11:00. We hope to have a tent erected, and will be handing out class mementos, and serving beer, soda, sandwiches, chips, etc. Finally, our dinner will run from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Saturday night in Land Hall, at the Academy.
Should you have any questions concerning anything about the weekend, please feel free to call me at the number listed above.
I look forward to seeing you next month.
Cordially,
Michael J. Keane
